The Yoga in Healthcare Alliance has created a 10 week course being delivered across the UK. Originally commissioned as a Social Prescribing intervention for 300 patients by West London CCG. It is supported by the College of Medicine and evaluated by University of Westminster Researchers.
The Yoga4Health programme is specifically designed to help improve physical and psychological wellbeing and address risk factors for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular conditions and depression.
Social Prescribing is a key part of the new NHS Long Term Plan. It will create 1,000 link workers by 2021 and envisages 900,000 patients receiving social prescribing as part of Universal Personalised Care.
The Yoga In Healthcare Alliance is a not-for-profit organisation (Charity Commission registration pending) dedicated to bringing yoga into healthcare and helping the NHS to deal with the challenges of promoting self-care through social prescribing. YIHA provides evidence-based yoga for NHS patients in your area. Supported by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Yoga in Society and the College of Medicine.
